Rare/Vintage Madame Alexander "Iceland" Cissette 10" DollPLEASE READ ALL
In 1961, Madame Alexander made Cissette dressed in International costumes. They only made two countries, Iceland and Denmark, I believe. They were not as popular as the 8" size and were soon discontinued. These are super rare and hard to find in any condition.
This Cissette is all original. She is made of hard plastic with jointed elbows and knees. She has working sleep eyes with brush lashes along with vibrant colored make up and blonde hair in its original set. Her headdress is made of wide red, yellow and white embroidered floral print on a black field ribbon tied on with a gold colored braid. It has streaming red and green ribbons down the back.
She wears a traditional MA tagged costume consisting of a brilliant red, crispy taffeta dress that has a beige organdy inlaid bodice with puffy lace trimmed sleeves. Her full length black apron is trimmed with horizontal red, green and gold braid trim above hemline. There is matching braid and ribbon trim on the shoulders, bodice and waist of the dress. Underneath she wears white taffeta panties, and one flesh-tone, thigh-high nylon stocking.
***
Condition
: She has a beautiful face with bright coloring. Her hair does have some flyaways, but curls are tight.
***
Missing
: One gold-tone earring, both shoes, one stocking, long slip and wrist tag (only the string remains attached to her wrist).
I can include a more modern (1980s) replacement long slip, stockings and black shoes (the newer fabric pumps) if you'd like them.
***
Flaws
: The elastic is stretched in the head piece, the sleeves and the panties. The white of her dress top has yellowed a bit. There are a some rust colored stains on her right sleeve as shown in the photos.
I've tried to mention all her "flaws", but she still displays beautifully and is a super rare international doll that is incredibly collectible, even "as is".
She can be found on page #208 in "Madame Alexander Collectors Dolls" by Patricia Smith.
She is from a smoke free home and comes with a stand. No box.
