    Description

***NOTE- PRINT IS MUCH SHARPER, WITH BETTER COLOR & SATURATION. WE ARE HAVING AN EBAY CAUSED ERROR: POOR  SHARPNESS, COLOR, & RESOLUTION PROBLEMS. IT  IS GOING TO TAKE A WHILE FOR THEM TO FIX - SORRY***
This is a rarely seen view of the inside bowl at Laniakea surf break in Haleiwa. This is a glossy lithograph on thick stock from an original high quality hand printed original black & white photograph custom printed by long time Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus in a darkroom from the original negative, cropped, and mounted on a single 8x10 inch backing board
**which includes the margins as part of the print (see photo)
, with caption and photography information on the back of the late Ronnie Burns at Laniakea Beach, North Oahu ©1988.  It is initialed ('BR 88') by the photographer and dated on the front of the photo, and is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage. It has preservation tips included in the label on the back.
It would make a great gift for someone who has surfed this break or likes famous surf spots. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.

Hawaiian pro surfer and surfing legend Ronnie Burns was flying through the inside section on a 12+ foot perfection wave at Laniakea. This is about as good as it gets! If you have ever surfed Lanis on a day like this you can relate, sorry for those folks who haven't. This swell was pumping outrageously long barrels like this thru all three bowls for three days in a row, with near sheet glass conditions averaging 6-12 feet (Hawaiian). There were about 15 surfers out. Ronnie was considered one of the all time suggested Pipeline surfers during the 1980’s on the North Shore. He passed away in 1990 from complications of an off road motorcycle accident and hopefully this photo will help preserve his memory. Ronnie and his father ‘Bosco’ Burns (also a surfboard industry legend) have since passed away but will always remain in surfing history and were friends of the photographer.
Laniakea is a world famous break at Kawailoa Beach in Haleiwa. The waves here range from 1-6 feet lefts and rights in the summer months to waves as large as 20+ feet high during the winter months generated (November-March) from far distant north and west Pacific Ocean storms. It is primarily a right hand break and was hardly surfed (word was ‘that there were many sharks there’) until the mid sixties. This photo was published in several magazines.
Our hand printed silver halide gelatin original photos are very popular and affordable to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii, as well as people who have never visited Hawaii.
We're proud to mention that many of our photos are being used as background artwork in the new CBS television network series "Hawaii 5-0".
The photos are the 'old style' traditional film based images printed using an enlarger from a negative on real photographic paper and archivally processed by hand, not by a machine.

    :
e-Bay's transfer process and the computer screen makes the photo look contrasty and slightly darker or lighter, depending on your monitor brightness and contrast settings.  The photo offered has more gray tones, deep, richer blacks, less contrast, and has the unique look of a real black and white print, which has a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. It is printed on 8x10 inch paper and margins may be slightly trimmed. **When it is cropped and attached to the single mat backing board you will be able to see the backing board around the borders of the print. It makes the print look like there is a margin around the edges of the photo which you can see here. Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot easily be removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo. If you want to use a larger frame and mat and you can't find an experienced framer who knows how to do it, contact us and we can provide information explaining how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10" frame and displaying the image as is. We want to make sure you know exactly what you are buying so we hope our thorough description of these photos will answer all your questions before you purchase.
